Despite as many as six teams in contention for the Premier League title this season, Chelsea’s Eden Hazard is already narrowing the list to three.
Antonio Conte’s side sit on top of the table with 31 points from 13 games, one point ahead of Liverpool and Manchester City with Arsenal two points further behind in fourth.
Speaking after Chelsea’s 2-1 victory against Tottenham at the weekend, Hazard dismissed his side’s vanquished opponents from the title charge, along with Arsenal and Manchester United, and made the bold claim that the battle is now only between the current top three.
“Man City and Liverpool. They are both good.
“If we want to be there at the end, then we have to finish above them.
“We want to keep going like this and we don’t want to stop now. We are full of confidence and we want to win every game.”
Man United and Tottenham in particular have plenty of work to do if they are to force their way back into the title picture, but Arsenal will certainly feel that they are very much in the race, especially as they are only three points behind the Blues after beating Bournemouth at the weekend.
Indeed with just one more Champions League game to play before the new year, Arsene Wenger’s side will be able to concentrate fully on the league, just as Chelsea (and Liverpool) have been able to do all along.
Liverpool, Chelsea and Man City also all won at the weekend, but at least one of those three is guaranteed to drop points this weekend as the latter two sides square off at the Etihad.
